Description

Dear Everyone,

we just put the version 0.9 of our website online... at
http://snowblind-film.com/

the site still is kind of a mess because we lack the manpower to do it right at the moment, but we got to have SOMETHING ;-)

So please tell us what you think needs most improvement, or any other ideas that you have. Maybe there are some people here that know more about web design than we do? We could upload the sources for you to play around (or I think you can just take them off the pages, can't you?)...

Especially we need a javascript or something for a nice text box that lets you navigate through several pages of text with arrow butonns or something like that. The "background" section is just a mess without it.

So as I said, your ideas and help are much appreciated :D

Cast & Crew tab on website

Hey guys,

You should include a Cast & Crew tab with mini-biographies of you all to gain more interest.

Also, there's a few spelling mistakes on the site. Not always a good look! ;o)

Well I don't know if Julie has tim for this... Alright in the meantime we spotted a really massive type-o, it said "green acreen" instead of "green screen" D8 Anything else?

Jani Salomaa August 22, 2009 18:49 Flag

A suggestion: Why don't you, Kalle, send the "Background" text as .doc to Julie? She could then return it to your email with corrections made in red. As a part time sometime journalist, i've found this works very well.

It's real time consuming to edit that flash text, since you can't copy nor paste...

Kalle Max Hofmann August 14, 2009 19:11 Flag

Hi Julie, we've updated the "background" section now and have at least added the actors' names and corresponding characters.
Is it asked too much if you could point out the spelling errors? Since non of us are english, we just can't seem to spot them ;-)

Visual cues

I second all of Udo’s and Julie’s ideas, fine thinking!

As my self-proclaimed “expertise” is visuals, I want to comment on the look of the site.

- Everything needs to be BIGGER, especially the logo!!! People these days have bigger monitors than before. On my standard 22’ screen everything looks kinda diminutive. This is a bombastic action movie, and it needs to show. For a good reference of size see the Iron Sky web site.

- Also, the news section could be taller to show more news.

- I don’t like how there is a vertical blue bar on the left side and nothing on the right (especially as the pictures cut off at a certain point). It makes it look like there SHOULD be something on the white side.

- The changing images in upper right corner are awesome. Kudos!

- You should add enlargeable thumbnail photos of the gallery photos (just below the already existing element). You have cool photos. People will want to see them bigger.

- And there are no explosions on the site. WTF;)

A minor detail (read: nitpicking):
- It’s hardly a shop if all you can do is donate;) So at least add a mention that more merchandise is on the way in near future.

I think this ecrater looks good. But I'm not a professional ;-) So Jani what merchandise do you think we should sell?

Kalle Max Hofmann August 23, 2009 09:31 Flag

Thanks for the feedback - unfortunately we couldn't find a web designer who is willing to work on the project for a prolonged time - and we're all lamers when it comes to web programming - also, the few of us have so much else to do... But I generally don't understand why everyone sticks to "magazine" page layout in the age of 16:9 monitors... In the current layout there is really not enough space for anything :-/
As far as the shop is concerned, we're just looking into the ecrater.com shop system - anyone have any experience with that? Is it really free as in "free" free?
We'll definitely have to do something about those explosions VERY quickly though ;P

links

Maybe you could add a "links"- section with links to homepages of the actors, facebook, wreckamovie, the musicians and so on...

I saw the Twistdrive 2pi guys have now used that button in their new video, cool :D

Peter Vesterbacka August 20, 2009 21:51 Flag

Yes, it's great!

Kalle Max Hofmann August 20, 2009 21:47 Flag

Right. Unfortunatetly the web design someone did for us doesn't allow for much room... But as you can see we put a big fat WAM button on the most important page :D

Peter Vesterbacka August 20, 2009 21:46 Flag

but once we have the shop here as well, it will be fine;-)

and you should always have http://wreckamovie.com/snowblind everywhere

Kalle Max Hofmann August 20, 2009 21:42 Flag

Not a bad idea, but the producer says: NOOOOOOOOOO!!! PEOPLE MUSTN'T LEAVE THE SITE BEFORE THEY FOUND THE SHOP!!!
Hehhe ;P

Moreover you could put the youtube link (the code to embed the video) of your trailer on the page, too, so that everyone can embed the trailer on his page with a few clicks...

Well we could but honestly I wouldn't know where... I guess our fans that are SO technically able that they would put our trailer on their website, also know how to get it from Youtube... I mean not that it's complicated, but a lot of people I asked to join here couldn't even figure out how wreckamovie works ;P

oh right Chun Jian is called "Naina" now. She was supposed to be chinese until up to the casting, which made us change that to an indian woman :-)
We gotta edit that, thanks!
