Description

Finally, the Snowblind trailer is out!

What do you think? Post your impressions, comments and ideas! Actually, I was going to ask everyone to rate and comment the clip on Youtube and tell all your friends... But I was away for 2 hours and we already have 150 views! You guys are awesome :D

Still - Keep it up! Comment, Vote, Tell A Friend!!! ;D

Some note from our side on the trailer: Of course this is no finished work as the film is not even fully edited. Some of these shots or sequences will not even appear in the finished film, but we used them to give a better impression of the story in short time.

So your feedback is most appreciated and useful - do you "get" what the film is about? What do you think of the approach of having different looks for different scenes (fitting the mood of the situation)? Does the slightly artificial look (that we lovingly call "graphic novel style") bother or distract you? Which shots/settings/actors do you like and dislike for what reason? And most importantly: Describe - only in single words - all the good things, that come to your mind... about your mother!

Thx,
Kalle-Max ^_^

ps: Oh yeah and a big thank-you from us to all those moviewreckers out there who helped us with their taglines and photos! As I said, you guys ROCK :D

Your thoughts on the new trailer?

As you may have seen, we've updated the original Snowblind trailer with a lot of new and improved shots. Of course we're very much interested in your feedback! Which shots do you like, which do you think need work, does the basic storyline come across, your opinion on the "old film" look and so on... ;-)

Take a look:

So far, we've honoured your opinion by putting in shots that fared well on our "pick the best screenshots" task. Also some of you may discover picture elements they submitted here in some shots of the trailer :D Let us know what you were able to spot!

Thanks,
Kalle-Max ^_^

Nice Trailer!

I really like the trailer. It makes me want to see the whole movie. It worked for me, though :-) Do you plan to publish another one?

What about doing a music video using the Snowblind material? I'm sure you could find an artist / band that would be interested. One of the songs from your soundtrack?

And let's start building more interest, I don't think it has waned, just need to build some more;-) Anything we could do in Berlin? Haven't been there for ages myself, maybe we could do a Wrecking party or something?

Kalle Max Hofmann September 29, 2009 12:42 Flag

Hi Zerafine, well we did indeed think of releasing another trailer to fuel the interest for Snowblind... which has mostly waned... but we haven't really started compositing work so we'll probably wait until some scenes are really finished - so that they just have to be edited into a new trailer. This would be quite efficient and we really don't have much manpower to spare ;-)

Another idea would be just to release a complete scene, like one of the massive firefights in full length, or maybe release the first ten minutes of the film as a free download. But we'll decide on that in early November I think ^_^

great!

hello,
I really like the trailer, it gives a feeling of the full movie!

In my opinion there is one shot which doesn't look absolutly perfect (00:55 - 01:00).

But the look of the movie is very special and i like it too ;)

Hello...

I think it's a bit too long (though 1:30 minutes is nice...)... The first part (calm) should be shorter, I think... and the second a little more addictive

Anyway, I think it's a very good job in there... I can wait to see the all feature...

True, but you could pretend that it's the trailer for the Snowblind DVD...

"Finally on Mango DVD. The biggest German green screen movie of all time. Presenting Snowblind. Totally Uncut. The way Kalle-Max his wrecking crew intended it to be seen. On a laptop with a small screen and really crappy speakers...Not. LOL"

Slowly turning it into a parody of the TGTBTU trailer.

Kalle Max Hofmann September 01, 2009 20:00 Flag

Yeah that's true - but the one that João posted can't really be a reference because it's a trailer to the DVD of a film that everyone knows. But I have the DVD, gotta take a look if the ORIGINAL trailer from the 70s is on there. But BTW, the whole of Sowblind is a spoof - but more one of "Once upon a time in the west" than TGTBTU ;-)

Peter Vesterbacka September 01, 2009 19:50 Flag

A spoof of The Good, The Bad and The Ugly trailer for Snowblind would be cool. Maybe do it as a Wreckommercial;-)

Carl Morys September 01, 2009 08:58 Flag

Good idea to make the next one shorter... Then it's not so much work for us ;-D

Great trailer!

Despite all those little faults which other wreckers noticed, for me it looks quite intriguing and makes me wait for the film to get to know what the whole story is about.

Biker girl

The last shot where the Biker girl drove over and started to shoot the badass guy made me laugh. And because of that shot I want to see the whole movie.

I do not know if you are trying to be serious about the action in the movie or are you bit of making fun of western action. But that last laugh was giving me some reason to watch this.

You guys should get Jana to register for Wreckamovie. She could be the first to get access to our improved personal profile pages on here...

Kalle Max Hofmann August 14, 2009 09:41 Flag

Carl you pfeife, didn't I say the Angelina comparison is "internal use only"?!? Seems I have to start censoring your posts again ;P Anyway, you all are right: Jana is great, it's an honor, and we DO need more biker girls! Good thing we also have her running around with a machete in Snowblind :D

Oskar Lönnberg August 14, 2009 05:42 Flag

Carl no wonder she seemed so familiar. I probably have seen Jana Pallaske somewhere before. Yes we need more biker girls :)

Carl Morys August 13, 2009 22:05 Flag

Very nice comment Seppo, thank you! Oskar by the way the "biker girl" is in germany really well known. It is Jana Pallaske who Kalle would call the "german Angelina Jolie" ;-D She has also starred in international action films like "Extreme Ops" and the scifi classic sequal "Screamers: the hunting" and now she is even in Inglorious Basterds!!! Okay its a very small role only but still great. Its a gigantic honour for us to have her in Snowblind!!!

Seppo Hiltunen August 12, 2009 09:00 Flag

you are shooting a surrealistic, dreamlike movie! And the surrealism is what I see as new form. The bike seems to be monstrous, and the emotional effect is stunning. I am impressed.

Kalle Max Hofmann August 12, 2009 08:16 Flag

No, no we don't mean to be serious. The whole atmosphere is supposed to be grindhouse style, as in "Planet Terror". Well not that much as the story is more serious than PT but the setting is even crazier. We're saying that mankind has adapted to the cold surroundings so some run around with bare arms and bald heads in the cold, while others have kind of night-vision eyes (using the snow's reflections) and so on... It's gonna be a real blast hopefully! Also, we're going to enhance western action with John Woo-like gunfights.... Keep your eyes peeled ;D

wow

I really love the trailer. A great mix of charming kitch, humour and action in a unique visual style. The Indian 'badguy' made me smile, he's great. Also the music (especially in the lovescene) creates a sexy and futuristic atmosphere apart from the actionbit when it gets very pathetically and made me think of Roman legions or something similar, oldfashioned and heard too often for my taste. The 'girl pushed into the trash'-scene disturbed the nice flow of the trailer for me too for a moment. I began to ask myself things like: 'isn't it a bit rude to have her being 'knocked down' twice in two minutes time?' :-) that might be exactly the joke you intended to make, but as the jealousy-scene is much stronger and still very present in ones' mind this one just irritates as it's obviously less important. So these were the only two details I could think of to criticize. It seems to be a very powerful and impressing filmproject and I'm looking forward to watching the whole film.

Confused but intrigued

Hi,

I've watched your trailer a few times over the last couple of days. Visually it's impressive.

I like the trailer but isn't the point to a trailer that the audience gets an idea what the film is ABOUT?

To be honest I don't know:
What exactly the story line is.
Who are the good guys or the bad guys?
Who's that girl on the bike? Is it the main girl transformed?

Also, I've read here about the 'joke' of pushing the girl down, I'm sure it's funny in context but at the moment it looks like bad acting:
"Wait it's not safe".

:/

I'm intrigued to see the film but I wouldn't rush out to see it. I imagine this is just a first trailer, right?

When is it meant to be released?

Sorry to be frank but you guys asked for honest opinions, right?

Hi Julie, thanks for your comments - of course we like honest opinions - like most people, we think our own work is so great that you have to hit us with a sledgehammer to make us think things over ;-)

The general Idea with the trailer was to get across that the film is really different, like an animated graphic novel, and that it features a lot of action - to set the right target audience ;-) I really hate it when trailers give away too much of the story. So the only thing you were supposed to "get" is - one man sends another man to kill a third man... and then a woman gets in between them all :D

The scene where she is pushed is a little awkward because we didn't want to give away a major plot element that also explains why the guy is scting so confused... Maybe not the best idea but the shot when she falls is just so comic-like that we wanted to include it anyway :-)

We're hoping to complete the film sometime in december but we can only make it if we get a lot of support... So tell everyone about this please ^_^

..."isn't the point to a trailer that the audience gets an idea what the film is ABOUT? "

I saw some years ago the original trailer of Kubrick's "2001 - Space Odysseu" and I must say the trailer did not reveal much about the film. The trailer of 2001 was awful. ;)

When the wind blows

hang on, because of the low budget you couldn't affort a strong wind machine, I can come into that but why let then the girls or the guys have their hair lose? why don't you give them ponytails or something else, explained by not wanting their hair freezed backwards, or that they want to keep their neck warm or it's the newest fashion. Just expalined by a small dialog somewhere in the film(*), it doesn't make sence but since your motto is 'no realism please' I think it could have been a simple solution.

(*)1):
Why are you putting your hair in your jacket?
-At this temperature your hair could freeze that why and I'm defenately not in for another faircut, yet.
2):
What's up with the ponytails?
-Just to keep or necks a little warm.
3):
Look ponytails are in, it's the newst fashion.
-Can't wait till the next fashion.
You're mean.

Or something like that It would have explained a lot.

I was wondering could you use motion blur to imitate the movement of hair in windy environment (nerd solution)

Nice

The trailer looks nice, and the effects are cool. Unforutenately some feel strange, I think it's because the perspective of the CGI and life elements are not matching. I know this quite tricky, because I did it myself.

Which software do you for doing the efects (3d, tracking, compositing )?

Kalle Max Hofmann August 12, 2009 00:18 Flag

Yes you're right, setting up the backgrounds is actually more work than the compositing. It is our target to achieve a higher quality in the finished film than in the trailer though... But first we need to find some people that help us out - and I hope the trailer will lure some clueless clickers into our dungeon, muarharhar *diabolical laughter*

(sorry too much coffee)
